Lions Emergency Accommodation CentreLEAC provides short term crisis accomodation and related support services to families, single women and single men who have overnight contact with their children. LEAC also co-ordinates the Keys to Early Intervention in Homelessnes Service (KEIHS) with officers located in five locations.

Qld White Cane Committee - event 15 October 2020“International White Cane Safety Day is held annually on 15 October. We celebrate and recognise the achievements of people with no or low vision and their involvement in their communities. Since 1966 the Qld White Cane Committee supported by Lions Districts’ 201Q1 & 3 have hosted a function on International White Cane Safety Day . A dinner is held and the annual Hazel & Louis Sanders Memorial White Cane User Achievement Award is presented. The two categories are adult and a junior (teenager) with no or low vision- demonstrated how the use of a white cane helped them make a success in their lives. A trophy and cheque is presented to the adult $1,000 and the junior $250. Award nomination close mid August. Dinner bookings close 17 September venue TBA
